I have lived in Yountville for over 11 years.  I am proud to be married to John, a Vietnam Veteran, for 33 years.  We Yountville residents know that we live in a very special Town - we call it the heart of the Napa Valley. Yountville is a welcoming, safe and special place to live and raise a family.

Our Town has a unique diversity - home to Veterans, Elders, Families, and Businesses. Over the years, the character of the Town has remained, while the fame of the Napa Valley, and the charm and location of Yountville have drawn more and more visitors. This is a blessing and a challenge for those of us who live here.

The visitors have contributed to a positive financial climate for the Town. In this challenging economy, we are fortunate to draw many visitors and the transient occupancy tax (TOT) and sales tax from restaurants and retail makes up 75% of  our Town's General Fund.

Twenty years ago, the retail in our Town was dominated by antique shops, today it is tasting rooms and that is a concern for all of us. However, the Town Council's plan to encourage retail diversity in the Tasting Rooms and, indeed, throughout Town, makes sense and I support that.

I will bring a positive attitude and a balanced approach to local government for our families, seniors, veterans, businesses and visitors.

We are fortunate to be surrounded by an agricultural preserve that is envied around the world. I will work with the County to protect it for all of us.

Working together we can enjoy the kind of community that has made this such a special Town while welcoming visitors from around the country and around the world.
